Helmets

As of the 2012 baseball season, Glen Ellyn Youth Baseball has required every player to provide their own batting helmet due to health and safety concerns. You can purchase the helmet of your choice as long as it fits properly.

Bats

Effective January 1, 2018

Please note that as of January 1, 2018, the new USA Baseball Bat Standard will be implemented. Little League-approved baseball bats that were approved for use for the 2017 season will no longer be acceptable for use in any game or activity. For more information on the USABat standard and a complete list of bats approved through the USABat Standard, visit usabat.com.

The bat must be a baseball bat which meets the USA Baseball Bat standard (USABat). It shall be a smooth, rounded stick, and made of wood or of material and color tested and proved acceptable to the USA Baseball Bat standard (USABat).

Beginning with the 2018 season, non-wood and laminated bats used in the TBall 1 & 2, Bantam, Shetland, Minor A/AA, Majors and Pony leagues shall bear the USA Baseball logo signifying that the bat meets the USABat – USA Baseball’s Youth Bat Performance Standard. All BPF – 1.15 bats will be prohibited beginning with the 2018 season. Additionally, starting in 2018, the bat diameter shall not exceed 2⅝ inches for these divisions of play.

Use of an illegal bat shall result in removal of the bat from the game along with ejection of the player and coach for the remainder of the game. Subsequent violations shall result in a two game suspension for the player and coach for each infraction.
