Welcome to Glen Ellyn and the Glen Ellyn Park District. The Glen Ellyn Park District was established on November 3, 1919 as an independent governmental agency. Since that time numerous facilities and open space have been added to Park District holdings to meet the growing needs of our community.

The Glen Ellyn Park District’s year is divided into three seasons: Autumn, Winter, and Spring/Summer. The Park District provides over 700 programs year-round – serving infants through seniors!

Each Activity Guide highlights a wealth of programs and special events for all age groups and interests. Seasonal events such as the Lake Ellyn Cardboard Regatta, Freedom Four™ Four-Mile Run, Family Fun Night, Eggs-trordinary Egg Hunt, and Boo Bash are just a few of the cornerstones of recreation programming your Park District offers you and your family.

Glen Ellyn Park District’s 29 parks are meticulously maintained for the community’s use in both unstructured recreation and for programmed events such as Youth Soccer and Softball. The district operates one outdoor aquatic facility, four recreation buildings, 23 multipurpose parks and playgrounds and two lakes, including Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center and the Lake Ellyn Boathouse.

Glen Ellyn is located in DuPage County, 23 miles west of Chicago, adjacent to rapidly growing suburban areas. The population of Glen Ellyn, according to the 2010 census, is 27,450 with a median household income of $90,640.

The Park District’s mission is driven to foster diverse, community-based leisure opportunities, through a harmonious blend of quality recreation programs, facilities and open space which will enhance the quality of life into the future.
